The Four Seasons
Teaterverket Västman / Odenplan
Teaterverket Svea / Stockholm

Can you love someone without becoming both their heaven, and their hell?
The Four Seasons is an intimate drama for two voices, more a theatrical poem than a conventional play. Its two symbolically named characters, Adam (Jalil MirNikjoo) and Beatrice (Olivia Lorenz), have retreated to a remote, desolate house to try and find their way back to life and love. The story begins in winter. They are weary, wary and haunted by past love affairs that all ended in shattered dreams and broken marriages.
Over the course of a year we follow their relationship. Love sprouts in the spring rain, blossoms in the summer heat, withers and stagnates in the quarrels and accusations of autumn, and finally turns into an icy death in a winter of indifference.
Thoughts and feelings flow between the two characters in a dreamlike, poetic stream, accompanied by video projections and music composed especially for this production. The play is performed in both Swedish or English on different days, so you can choose the language you'd like to see it in.
The play was written in 1964 by Sir Arnold Wesker, a key figure in 20th-century British drama whose work includes more than 40 plays as well as essays, poetry and short stories.
