ENG: Build your own theremin Workshop (beginners version)
Together we will build our own theremines. Learning how to solder and some basics in electronics on the way. The beginners theremin course is a great introduction to electronics, especially for kids!
The theremin is an early electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the thereminist (performer). It was invented in 1919 by Léon Theremin whilst researching proximity sensors. The special soprano-like sounds, with the lightly-generated vibratot, made it popular in many early horror movies.
The instrument's controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas that sense the relative position of the thereminist's hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other.
Girilal Baars is a vocalist and composer based in Uppsala. On stage he works with vocal music, improvisation and electro acoustic music. Girilal is educated at SADA, EMS and the Sibelius Acadamy and has a PhD in composition from the University of Huddersfield (UK). In recent years, Girilal has explored different aspects of vocal folk music through the aesthetics and methods of contemporary art music.

Vi kommer att bygga ihop egna thereminer. På vägen lär vi oss löda, och lite grunder i elektronik. Nybörjarens theremin-kurs är en bra introduktion till elektronik, speciellt för barn!
Theremin är ett tidigt elektroniskt musikinstrument som kontrolleras utan fysisk kontakt av thereministen (artisten). Den uppfanns 1919 av Léon Theremin i anslutning till forskning kring detektorer. Dess speciella sopranliknande ljudbild, med det lättframbringade vibratot, gjorde att den kom att användas i många tidiga skräckfilmer.
Instrumentets styrsektion består vanligtvis av två metallantenner som avkänner det relativa läget för thereministens händer och styroscillatorer för frekvens med ena handen och amplitud (volym) med den andra.
Girilal Baars är sångare och tonsättare baserad i Uppsala. På scen jobbar han med vokal musik, improvisation och elektroakustisk musik. Girilal är utbildad vid bl.a. SADA, EMS och Sibelius Akademin och har doktorerat i komposition vid University of Huddersfield (UK). De senaste åren har Girilal utforskat olika aspekter av vokal folk musik genom den nutida konstmusikens estetik och metoder.
